A Salute to CUPCAKES!

NFFFourth of July cupcake Collage copyYesterday, I featured A Salute to No Fuss Berry Cakes! and to be completely honest, at the time I was pretty enamored with all the fabu-loso berry cake ideas for the 4th of July.

BUT THEN I woke up in the middle of the night and was like,
“What?!? Am I living in 1991?!? This is the decade of the cupcake, Loralee.  Cake was so ten years ago.”

So without further ado, here are some of the cutest patriotic cupcakes I’ve seen out there!

P.S. If you want to diss the trend and proclaim your liberty on Independence Day by making a berry flag cake, I am all for that. More power to you! I will probably end up doing both. Just so I feel like I’m doing my own thing, but at the same time seeming “with it.”

Here are the links and my unnecessary commentary:

Before we begin channeling our inner-Martha and pull out the marzipan for #3, let’s not forget the power of non-pariels…or as I call them “sprinkles.” They can make any frosted cupcake adorable in seconds. Sprinkles have saved me from a myriad of quickly-frosted failures.
2. Tofu and Cupcakes
I love the one strawberry and flag on top. So easy and so festive.
3.Marzipan Star Cupcakes by The Reckless Chef
Okay. Let’s be honest with ourselves. This is a fussy one. But isn’t it fabulous? Click on the link if your out to prove yourself! I am positive it’s Martha approved and I LOVE it.
4.Bon Appetit Blueberry Hill Cupcakes
These cupcakes prove less is always more. A sprinkle of blueberries and you are set. Love it.
5. Wave the flag, cupcake! posted by SheKnows
I think these are fun and easy. Click on the link for the recipe and tutorial.
6.4th of July Cupcakes by Diana’s Desserts
Similar to #4, less is more here. I love how she left a little bit of the chocolate cupcake showing. Fabulous.
7. Red, White, and Blue Cupcake by Food Create.
Kids love biting into a cupcake to find a multitude of colored cake. Food Create no longer has the link for the recipe, but you can follow our tutorial here using red and white food coloring to get the results you want!

Cute. Cute. Cute.
9. Edmonton Cupcakes Red White Blue
Edmonton reminds us that plain cupcakes can be oh-so-cute. Well-frosted red, white, and blue cupcakes are perfectly patriotic and festive.
