{"id":9822,"date":"2010-01-15T12:56:25","date_gmt":"2010-01-15T16:56:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/?p=9822"},"modified":"2011-08-18T04:17:43","modified_gmt":"2011-08-18T08:17:43","slug":"pudding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/pudding\/","title":{"rendered":"Proof in the Pudding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-9829\" href=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=9829\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9829\" title=\"NFFpudding1 copy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/NFFpudding1-copy.jpg\" alt=\"NFFpudding1 copy\" width=\"576\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/NFFpudding1-copy.jpg 576w, https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/NFFpudding1-copy-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/a>Ladies, let&#8217;s admit it.\u00a0\u00a0 Sometimes we make life harder than it has to be.\u00a0 Am I right or am I right?\u00a0\u00a0 Take me, for example.\u00a0 This week, in an effort to make my <strong><em>Shower with Love<\/em><\/strong> the\u00a0<strong>BEST\u00a0employee baby shower\u00a0<em>EVER<\/em> <\/strong><em>(photos soon to follow)<\/em><strong>, <\/strong>I\u00a0embarked on one too many homemade desserts from scratch.\u00a0\u00a0 The day before the shower, I had brownie pops, red velvet cupcakes, white sour cream cupcakes,\u00a0and brownie bites all\u00a0in made, half-made, and batter-form lining my kitchen.\u00a0 Needless to say, by the time I was finished baking one batch of everything,\u00a0 I was so exhausted I decided to scratch the whole thing and go buy the bulk of the \u00a0food from Costco.\u00a0 In the end, I added small homemade touches to the store bought brownie bites and other desserts and I believe they turned out just as fabulous than if I had made them myself from scratch. Okay, maybe even better. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The lesson being that sometimes you don&#8217;t need to give a million dollar effort (or spend a million dollars) to get a million dollar product.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">These pudding desserts prove the same point. My mother, along with a few other women, were asked to make desserts for a large crowd this week. Instead of slaving over personal\u00a0cr\u00e8me br\u00fbl\u00e9e or mini cheesecakes, my mom went with pudding. <em>&#8220;Pudding?!&#8221;<\/em> I said. <em>&#8220;You are going to make pudding? The kind from a box? mm.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/em>Pudding didn&#8217;t seem glamarous or fabulous to me. And yet, she proved me wrong. I guess there is a reason I call her Sandra Anderson Living.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-9828\" href=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=9828\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9828\" title=\"NFFPudding\" src=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/NFFPudding.jpg\" alt=\"NFFPudding\" width=\"576\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/NFFPudding.jpg 576w, https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/NFFPudding-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Using tiny taster cups (2&#8243; X 3&#8243;), she filled each 2\/3 the way with vanilla and chocolate pudding (the box kind!) enhanced only by replacing the milk required with half and half instead to give it a more creamy taste. She then piped on pretty puffs of Dream Whip rather than regular homemade whipped cream. (Dream Whip stays stiff at normal room temperature for a much longer period of time than real whipped cream or Cool Whip and she knew they would be sitting out on the dessert table for a fair amount of time before serving.)
