It&#8217;s time to put all my eggs in one basket (Easter puns <em>completely<\/em> intended).  Spring is a lovely time of year to bring your house into order. Here is one of our favorite inexpensive organization solutions!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=4950\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4950\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/untitled-162-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"untitled-162\" title=\"untitled-162\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-4950\" \/><\/a> One of the greatest challenges for a family is making sure everything has a place and a place for everything! Storage bins which range from 7 to 47 dollars can become expensive when you need around <strong>3,000 <\/strong>of them.  <\/p>\n<p>The good news is that even if you can&#8217;t afford to buy <a href=\"http:\/\/www.potterybarnkids.com\/products\/md8500\/index.cfm?pkey=cbaskets%2Dboxes%2Dbuckets%7Ck\">Pottery Barn Kids storage <\/a>options in bulk with just a <em>little<\/em> creativity you can make storage items just as cute for pennies!   <\/p>\n<p>With three children under three between the two of us, Annie and I have seen <strong>A LOT <\/strong>of empty Similac cans the past two years.  After awhile, we both got tired of the waste and wanted to put the cans to good use!  That&#8217;s when we began morphing our empty food containers into chic storage units!  <\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s how you can do it!<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=4923\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4923\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/untitled-17-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"untitled-17\" title=\"untitled-17\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-4923\" \/><\/a><strong>What you need:<\/strong><br \/>\n1) Empty powdered milk cans OR any empty containters you may have around the house.  Oatmeal Quck Oats Tubs work great as well!<br \/>\n2) Scrapbook paper<br \/>\n3) Modge Podge and spong brush <strong>or<\/strong> hot glue gun and glue sticks<br \/>\n4) Scissors<\/p>\n<p><strong>Optional Items:<\/strong><br \/>\n1) Labels<br \/>\n2) Spray Paint<\/p>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><br \/>\n1) Make sure container is clean.   Use a paper towel to be sure all powdered milk or previous contents are gone.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=4963\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4963\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/untitled-13-300x262.jpg\" alt=\"untitled-13\" title=\"untitled-13\" width=\"300\" height=\"262\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-4963\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n2) Peel off label of container<br \/>\n3) Cut paper to fit container<br \/>\n4) Using modge podge or hot glue apply paper to container smoothly<br \/>\n5) Let dry<\/p>\n<p><strong>Optional Additions and Ideas:<\/strong><br \/>\n1) Spray paint container lid to your liking OR add paper to top of lid as well<br \/>\n2) Print out matching labels and apply on top of papered container<br \/>\n3) If you would rather not use scrapbook paper, you can easily just paint the containers.
