For those within the LDS church, I would say it was the usual culprits: polygamy, racism, sexism, LGBTQ, etc. But to put it simply, what it really came down to for me was I felt like the doctrine of the church was telling me one thing, and the God I know and love was saying another. After years of turmoil, I made my decision and felt peace. I know so many people find peace within the walls of the LDS religion and I don’t judge them at all (as I hope they don’t judge me) and I hope they continue to go. I think everyone should hold onto what brings them closer to the Almighty. And to those few who may be reading this and don’t find peace through their church, I say – don’t give up on finding the path that brings you closer to God. Throughout the past few years, I have questioned a lot of things, but I do know for sure, ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. As long as you are reaching for God, you will be found. God has answered all my prayers. Not always how I’ve wanted 🙂 but all have been answered. I pray yours will be answered too. God is there for us and wants us to be happy. I hope we can all help each other on our path to being more as God would want us to be.
