It can be used at a wedding, but is also so simple you can throw it on a cupcake\u00a0for a child&#8217;s tea party and not feel guilty!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Today&#8217;s frosting tutorial,\u00a0the O Christmas Tree Technique,\u00a0is downright seasonal!\u00a0 Basically, you can only use this one from December 1st to January 5th.\u00a0 No exceptions.\u00a0 But feel free to prove me wrong.\u00a0 Follow the above steps to create scrumptious\u00a0Christmas trees for all to see.\u00a0 A key to creating awesome christmas tree cupcakes is to have stiff\u00a0 frosting.\u00a0 If your hands are warm and\/or your frosting is too soft, the heat from your hands will warm the frosting and your trees will fall and look like sad Christmas bushes.\u00a0 This may or may not have happened to me multiple times.\u00a0Keep your frosting chilled until you are ready to frost.\u00a0 Or create two bags of frosting.\u00a0 Refrigerate one while you decorate half your cupcakes and then switch.\u00a0 If you do this, you will have tall happy Tannenbaums.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Need a good frosting recipe?\u00a0 I promised to give you mine a long long time ago!\u00a0 Because I am so overdue on my promise, I am actually sharing not one, but two of my\u00a0frosting recipes!\u00a0\u00a0The first frosting recipe\u00a0is my favorite vanilla buttercream frosting.\u00a0 To be used on any and all cupcakes.\u00a0\u00a0(It takes a little bit of effort to\u00a0make, but you\u00a0can store it in an airtight container and freeze it up to two months! I like to make a batch in October and keep it for cookie and cake decorating throughout the holidays.) \u00a0The second is a basic decorator&#8217;s\u00a0icing that is <strong>for practice only<\/strong>.\u00a0 Personally, I need to make more of this stuff because my skills are failing.\u00a0\u00a0This practic icing\u00a0lasts for months and months without refrigeration and is perfect for all of us &#8220;less-skilled frosting-ers&#8221;! Here are\u00a0the recipes!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Vanilla Buttercream Frosting Recipe<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Ingredients:<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>1 1\/2 cups of granulated sugar<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>3\/4 cup milk<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>1 1\/2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>1\/4 tsp. salt<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>1 Tbsp pure vanilla extract<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>3\/8 cup whipping cream<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>1 1\/4 lbs. unsalted butter, room tempature<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Directions: Heat milk and sugar until sugar crystals dissolve. Add flour and salt and whik over an ice bath until the custard has cooled. Whisk in vanilla extract. Pour custard mixture in a mixing bowl with a padd attachment. Add cut-up butter and add whipping cream.\u00a0 Mix on low speed.\u00a0 Increase speed until mixture begins to thicken.\u00a0 It takes a little under ten minutes for mixture to be completely incorporated.
