{"id":13572,"date":"2011-06-04T19:00:19","date_gmt":"2011-06-04T23:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/?p=13572"},"modified":"2012-05-07T23:21:37","modified_gmt":"2012-05-08T03:21:37","slug":"merediths-unforgettable-5th-birthday-tea-party","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/merediths-unforgettable-5th-birthday-tea-party\/","title":{"rendered":"Client Event: Meredith&#8217;s Unforgettable 5th Birthday Tea Party"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I never cease to be amazed at the talent and inspiration my clients bring me!\u00a0 This party is definitely no exception!\u00a0 One of my dear clients, Andrea Edgar, designed this <em><strong>G<\/strong><strong>orgeous<\/strong><\/em> (with a capitol <em>G<\/em>!) tea party for her daughter&#8217;s 5th birthday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Always my inspiration for an event, is to somehow transport the guest to another dream-like world.\u00a0 Andrea did just that.\u00a0One look at these charming photos and you know these sweet little girls were in\u00a0a world of their own! \u00a0Take a look at her daughter&#8217;s\u00a0perfectly poised tea party event!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DSC_00311.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"DSC_0304_2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DSC_0304_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"298\" \/><\/a><em>Miss Meredith<\/em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"DSC_0100\" src=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DSC_0100.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"298\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">In her email to me, Andrea said, &#8220;<em>The invitations were definitely an inspiration for me &#8211; vintage but not too sophisticated.\u00a0 This was a birthday for a five year old, after all!\u00a0\u00a0 I embellished them with glitter<\/em>.&#8221;\u00a0 I think we all can agree this is a little too generous of a compliment!\u00a0 Inspiration for a beautiful party like this only comes from the inside! \u00a0I <em>love<\/em> how she embellished them with glitter.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Since her purchase, I have redesigned this invitation a bit.\u00a0 You can find it<a href=\"http:\/\/www.etsy.com\/shop\/LoraleeLewis\/search?search_query=vintage+tea+-royal&amp;search_type=user_shop_ttt_id_5952565&amp;shopname=LoraleeLewis\"> here<\/a>.\u00a0 Now I wish I had added glitter myself!\u00a0 <em>Adorable.<\/em> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"DSC_0101\" src=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DSC_0101.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"298\" height=\"448\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Andrea had each adorable little guest wear\u00a0a vintage hat from her oldest daughter&#8217;s collection.\u00a0 <em>Precious.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"DSC_0108\" src=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DSC_0108.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"298\" height=\"448\" \/><\/em>Andrea had he guests were asked to bring their favorite doll or teddy.\u00a0 They took photos, colored, made paper fans, played pass the present (unwrapping one layer at a time) and &#8216;Find Your Dolly&#8217;.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"DSC_0103\" src=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DSC_0103.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"298\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Andrea: <em>&#8220;The girls had so much fun being little ladies &#8211; they really got into their roles!\u00a0 This theme really reflected the transition of my preschooler moving into being a little girl, too.)&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Loralee&#8217;s comment: <\/em>In a world full of over-the-top parties, I\u00a0am a believer that parties should be age appropriate<em>. <\/em>You shouldn&#8217;t just throw a\u00a0beautiful big party just to throw a beautifulbig \u00a0party.\u00a0\u00a0Your event\u00a0should reflect the guest of honor and who they are at the time!<em> <\/em>I have tried to do this with all my events. I <em><strong>love <\/strong><\/em>how Andrea really thought deeply about what would fit her little Meredith&#8217;s personality and age!<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"DSC_0204\" src=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DSC_0204.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"298\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Andrea: &#8220;<em>For tea, everything was homemade: cranberry scones with devonshire cream and raspberry preserves, egg salad and heart-shaped PB &amp; J sandwiches, carrots and snap peas, oreo truffles, jam thumbprint cookies, lemon bars, white chocolate-dipped strawberries, and vanilla cupcakes with raspberry buttercream.\u00a0 The girls also drank LOTS of tea (actually, mostly milk with a little tea:)\u00a0 The tiered tray was topped with the letter &#8216;M&#8217; for our daughter, Meredith.&#8221; <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Loralee&#8217;s comment:<em> <\/em>Of course it was all homemade!<em> <\/em>I love this woman!\u00a0 Just fabulous.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"DSC_0223\" src=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DSC_0223.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"298\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13579\" title=\"DSC_0019\" src=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DSC_0019.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"298\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DSC_0019.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DSC_0019-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Andrea: <em>&#8220;Altogether I used 5 fabrics, 2 from Jo-Ann (a pink solid and cream with blue polka dot), a blue polka dot organza I&#8217;ve used for many other parties, and two florals from tablecloths I found at Homesense that reminded me of Cath Kidston prints.\u00a0 I promptly cut them up to make 3 table runners with ruffled edges, a bunting with pom-pom trim, a photobooth backdrop and handmade flowers. I sewed flowers of three different styles and of multiple sizes to adorn the chandelier, as well as to form a &#8216;bouquet&#8217; in the teapot for the centerpiece.\u00a0 I used some of my grandmother&#8217;s brooches to serve as the center of select flowers.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Loralee&#8217;s comment: <\/em>I have found that whenever a\u00a0person adds personal\u00a0intimate touches (no matter how seemingly insignificant), it\u00a0brings a warmness to\u00a0the event.\u00a0\u00a0The fact that\u00a0Andrea added\u00a0brooches from her grandmother&#8217;s jewelry box and\u00a0vintage hats from her eldest daughter&#8217;s collection &#8211;\u00a0beautifies Meredith&#8217;s\u00a0little tea party. \u00a0I am definitely going to try and do that more with my own events!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.loraleelewis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DSC_0108a.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\"
