It makes us feel beautiful and it&#8217;s\u00a0not going anywhere.\u00a0 Similar to the low-rise jean.\u00a0 On a side note: I am coming\u00a0\u00a0out\u00a0with Letterpress Collections\u00a0this summer!!!\u00a0 I can&#8217;t wait! <em>\u00a0I will\u00a0feel so fancy. Yipee!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>1) Something I like to call, &#8220;Uber-customization&#8221; &#8211; The\u00a0Millenials want it all.\u00a0 And they want it with their name<em> all over it<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0The entitlement is a little hilarious, but I also have to throw myself under the boat\u00a0since my wedding was all monogrammed L&#8217;s.\u00a0\u00a0(<em>But with our names being Lee and Loralee Lewis did I really\u00a0have a choice, ladies?\u00a0 No.\u00a0 I did not.\u00a0 I had to run with\u00a0the Ls<\/em>.) \u00a0\u00a0Personally, I love this uber-customization trend because it&#8217;s what I do &#8211; custom invitations.\u00a0 But it was WAY\u00a0more interesting to see how it has\u00a0effected the greeting card industry.\u00a0 Greeting Card designers are having to design their invitations with the city, state, birthdate, gender, and personality of their client all in mind.\u00a0 It was amazing to see what the greeting card designers were doing at the conference in respect to customization.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>2) Geometric Patterns &#8211;\u00a0 Everything from wedding invitations to wrapping paper featured geometric patterns.\u00a0 My favorite was the bold zigzag.\u00a0 I couldn&#8217;t believe how great it looked on even wedding invites!<\/p>\n<p>3) Color &#8211;\u00a0 Bright bold colors were everywhere at the conference.\u00a0 To be specific, the following colors are hot, hot, hot right now:<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 a. Green:\u00a0\u00a0 Kelly Green and Moss Green seem to be the favorites.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0b. Grey or Gray (depending on you\u00a0want to spell it): Grey is the new black.\u00a0 If it&#8217;s grey&#8230;or gray, it&#8217;s\u00a0in.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0c. Royal Blue:\u00a0 Bold blue is everywhere.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 d. Purple: Every shade from Eggplant to Lavender.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>4) Imperfection &#8211; Having slight imperfections (similar to\u00a0what you would find in letterpress items)\u00a0is pleasing to the buyer these days.\u00a0 I think it reminds us that it&#8217;s not a mass produced item.\u00a0 It&#8217;s special &#8211; one of a kind.<\/p>\n<p>5) Handmade &#8211; Due to us living in a paperless world, paper has become more important to us.\u00a0 When so many things can be mass produced, consumers are wanting original designs with a blast from the past feel.\u00a0 Beautifully handmade paper items are appreciated right now.\u00a0 Hand-painted cards were all over the conference!<\/p>\n<p>6) Numbers &#8211; I saw TONS of wrapping paper, cards, and invitations featuring large bold sequential\u00a0numbers.\u00a0\u00a0 Very fun.\u00a0 Very versatile.\u00a0\u00a0 Alphabets out.\u00a0 Numbers in.<\/p>\n<p>7) Font &#8211; Beautiful fonts executed smartly\u00a0is a huge trend right now.\u00a0 Bold fonts combined with\u00a0gorgeous scripts are\u00a0eye-catching!\u00a0\u00a0To be honest, there were quite a few misses in this respect at the\u00a0stationery show.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I found that a\u00a0designer that understands font is\u00a0a rare bird.\u00a0 But those who truly know how to execute font just take your breath away!<\/p>\n<p>8)\u00a0Old\u00a0old things \u00a0&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0I couldn&#8217;t think of a better way to title this trend.\u00a0 Vendors were selling pencils from the 1920-1960s, invitations made out of wood from 1800 year old European buildings, and paper notebooks\u00a0allegedly\u00a0from the Shang Dynasty era.\u00a0\u00a0 It was quite interesting.\u00a0 Unfortunately, I do not offer any of these items in my store.\u00a0\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 No Shang Dynasty cardstock here.\u00a0 Just the regular.<\/p>\n<p>9) Premade blog posts for sale &#8211; This was something that the stationery vendors were <em><strong>all<\/strong><\/em> over&#8230;and personally left a <em>really <strong>bad<\/strong> feeling in\u00a0my gut<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0I guess\u00a0there are\u00a0new companies popping up that will manufacture blog posts\u00a0for people to buy and place on their blog.\u00a0 According to one new company I spoke to at the conference,\u00a0 you purchase a monthly subscription to their company and then choose from all their\u00a0premade blog posts to place on your blog throughout the month.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The posts are un-editable (so you are unable to put your own thoughts into it) and are monitored by zip codes.\u00a0 So people will have the same posts all around the nation&#8230;but\u00a0not in your\u00a0zip code?\u00a0 \u00a0 To me, this defeats the point of blogging entirely &#8211; as the point of blogging (in my opinion) is to share your own point of view!\u00a0\u00a0 To\u00a0record life and happenings according to how you see it!\u00a0\u00a0This was an interesting idea that was going on at the show that seemed to catch everyone&#8217;s attention.\u00a0 I hope it doesn&#8217;t catch on.\u00a0 I\u00a0personally love\u00a0the authenticity of blogging.\u00a0 There are so many people I follow and love because of their personality that has come through the screen through their words!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There are so many other fun things up in stationery right now!\u00a0 I could go on forever.\u00a0 But I&#8217;ve got to go and\u00a0tuck\u00a0my kiddies in for the night.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll be back tomorrow with a few more!<\/p>\n<p>Blog to you soon,<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mylivesignature.com\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0 !important; background: transparent;\" src=\"http:\/\/signatures.mylivesignature.com\/54489\/84\/CA43CE42B1A78F3D39348BC6A8DE1E18.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After a week in New York at the National Stationery Conference,\u00a0my mind is still brimming with all the new trends and fresh\u00a0ideas\u00a0that are coming up in\u00a0paper!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Oh, it is fun!
