Yesterday, the kids and I arrived at a promised Zoo trip at 3:40.
The zoo closes at 5:00.
As I sped past the zebras and cockatoos
(pushing three little ones in a double stroller in 90 degree weather)
to capture the much-loved rhino while bathing,
I had an epiphany<\/em>.<\/div>\n
Motherhood in the summer is hot.<\/div>\n
I know…I know…
My wisdom knows no bounds.
It’s simply earth-shattering.<\/div>\n
But in all honesty, motherhood in summer is<\/em> hot.<\/em> <\/div>\n
Motherhood in summer is hot. <\/strong><\/div>\n
Ladies, we’ve got to be prepared.<\/div>\n
We want to look hot – not feel hot.
We want to look fresh – not sweaty.
We want to look updated – not run-down.
We want to look together – not sweating from every pour where are my keys?!?<\/em> frownie face.<\/div>\n

So without further ado, here is a list of 9 items this Texas-hottie has learned the hard way that you have to for a mandatory no fuss fabulous summer…

1. Two pairs of sunglasses – One <\/em>cheap pair<\/em><\/a>. One <\/em>designer pair<\/em><\/a>. I take the cheap pair to SeaWorld for my one year old to tear off during the Shamu Show and the designer pair when I’m out on a hot summer night with my honey.<\/em><\/p>\n

2. Waterproof Mascara – no explanation needed. <\/em>Stock up<\/em><\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

3. St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse – Find it<\/em> here<\/em><\/a>. Best sunless tanning ever. Dancing with the Stars uses it – but don’t let that change your mind from purchasing. You want to be tan – not have age spots. <\/em><\/p>\n

4. A great large brimmed hat – Find one here<\/a>, here<\/a>, or here<\/a>. You can pull it off. I promise. You are fabulous.<\/p>\n

5. Sunscreen wipes – Find them <\/em>here<\/em><\/a>. Much easier than lotion or sprays for you and the kiddos!<\/em> <\/p>\n

6. Sugar-free popsicles – The 15 calorie ones at the grocery store are fantastic. You eat 10 of them and it’s like a bowl of cereal. Sign me up.<\/em><\/p>\n

7. A Cover Up You Love – I don’t care whether you weigh 89 lbs or 890 lbs. You need a cover up and you need to love it. You need to feel awesome. Find a variety here<\/a> or here<\/a>. <\/em><\/p>\n

8. Sun dresses (at least 4 of them) – If you live in a sunny city, sun dresses are the key to keeping cool. Find adorable (and modest!!) dresses here<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

9.<\/em> Over-sized Summer Tote –<\/em> When you are off the beach, you want everything in one place. You don’t want to be looking through a plefora of handbags during your vacay. A large tote with alternating storage pockets and storage is a life saver. There are many inexpensive versions. Here is one of my favorites for <\/em>Target<\/em><\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n
