When family lives far away, it can be difficult for grandparents to stay in touch with little ones. My mom and dad (aka Nana and Papa) have become pros at sending little things out of the blue to keep their distant-selves continually present in my children’s lives. Recently, “Papa” (read: Nana) made these adorable Just Because Ice Cream Bucks<\/em> and sent them in the mail to my munchkins!<\/div>\n
Judging by my kids’ reaction, you would have thought they just won a lifetime supply of sundaes, pizza, and Dora the Explorer. All of which they get plenty of, by the way.<\/div>\n
Their Alvin, Theodore, and Simon voices chanted “Ice Cream!!! ICE CREAM!!! ICE CREAM!!!!!<\/strong>” until there was no way I wasn’t strapping them in the car and driving them 60 mph to the nearest creamery.<\/div>\n
Needless to say, it was fun and the kids loved it.<\/div>\n

The other reason why I love these little bucks is because it gives you an opportunity to go and do something special with your child. My little Vienna and I ran to the creamery together the other day with our bucks in hand. It was a fun excuse to spend quality time – just me and her.<\/div>\n

So I have kifed my mom’s idea and made a few of my own Just Because Ice Cream Bucks <\/a>to share! You can download and print them here<\/a>. I’ve been pulling them out and leaving them on my children’s beds when they have done something sweet or just when they needed a little cheering up. It’s more than an easy thing that leaves an imprint on their day.<\/div>\n
