\"\"<\/a> Today, I am sweeping up the cobwebs, packing up the skeleton, and disassembling Dracula. The so-called “teaser” to the Holidays has come to a dramatic close and now it’s time to focus on all the gratitude and cheer the winter season has to bring. Yet, before I speed forward to the turkey and mistletoe (inevitably like the lead race car in the Indy 500), I’d like to enjoy one more Halloween post. Besides the fact that I can wear double the makeup and twice the amount of hairspray with no apologies, I love Halloween because the lack of expectations it brings with it. Unlike most holidays, the expectation-buildup to Halloween is minimal for me. The point of the day is just to make sure your kids giggle and eat candy. Christmas is by far my favorite Holiday. I love the deeper meaning of Jesus’ coming to earth on Christmas. I also love the focus of being grateful for all God has given on Thanksgiving, but I love Halloween for completely different reasons. Halloween (in my book anyway) is really just for kids. It’s a holiday that is just supposed to be fun. And I relish in the fact that in all the rush of today’s world, there is still a day set aside just to have fun with your kids. I don’t have to worry about them learning anything or forgetting the meaning of the day…the point really is for them to eat too much sugar and laugh too hard and be too tired to wake up the next morning. It’s one day out of the year when as a mom, I can say ‘yes’ a little more and ‘no’ a little less without feeling irresponsible. And to me that’s worth celebrating! So here’s to Halloween and all the fun it brings! I can’t wait for next year! <\/div>\n
